Possible Jennens & Bettridge Table
Potentially a Papier Mache' piece of furniture or a wooden copy of one.
If one were to find a piece with their stamp (Jennens & Bettridge 1816-1870) underneath, and in good condition then value would be in excess of £1,000.
However, it looks as if more furniture was made either by them or other folk that did not have a stamp. Or, were not completely original, so eg., they used to put either a wooden pole or rod up the table column for extra hidden strength.
In my past I've had chairs that had a wooden caned seat with a Papier Mache back. This table were pretty sure is wood based , one of the feet has been broken in the past , and if you tap the top it sounds like wood .
But the design is completely Papier Mache, as the tipping mechanism is exactly the same as the Papier Mache tables, made by J & E , just no expensive "stamp"
If you look up images , you will see.
For me, the actual Artwork is very good, so someone has made a dam good job!
